You Have the Right to a Safe Workplace During the Pandemic

Federal law requires employers to provide workplaces that are "free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm.” The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is the agency empowered to enforce this requirement. If you believe your employer is forcing you to work in unsafe conditions related to COVID-19, you can file a complaint with OSHA to report the conditions.

If you believe your employer has retaliated against you for speaking out about unsafe working conditions related to COVID-19, you can file a whistleblower complaint with OSHA. OSHA has recently encouraged workers to submit whistleblower complaints to the agency if they encounter any employer misconduct during the COVID-19 crisis. If OSHA determines that unlawful retaliation has occurred, they may bring a lawsuit against your employer on your behalf.
